Essential Training for Workplace Safety
This popular 1-day workplace first aid course meets the guidelines from WorkSafe New Zealand and is recommended for the majority of workplaces. Designed to equip participants with essential skills, the course leads to a comprehensive first aid certificate, ensuring you are prepared to respond to emergencies in any workplace environment.
This first aid course covers a full range of first aid techniques that are crucial in both low-risk and high-risk work settings. By practising real-life scenarios, you will gain the confidence and competence to provide first aid when an accident or emergency occurs, securing your workplace first aid certificate.
This course meets the requirements of the New Zealand First Aid Certificate.
Students are required to:
- Be able to read and understand English – there are practical, written and verbal assessments in this course.
- Be able to kneel on the floor to perform CPR.
- 14 years or older.
Course Content:
This course includes CPR training on adults, children and infants, AED's, shock, common injuries & illnesses and how to manage emergency situations:
- First aid principles
- Approaching an Accident Scene
- Scene Safety
- Primary Assessment - DRSABCD
- CPR - adult / child / infant
- AEDs *Automated External Defibrillator*
- Choking
- Bleeding
- Shock & Recovery position
- Secondary Survey
- Burns, fractures, soft tissue injuries & poisoning
- Heart attacks, asthma, seizures, stroke, diabetes & allergies
- Heat & cold exposure
- Crush, head & spinal injuries
- Triage - managing multiple casualties
Course Duration:
Full: 8 hrs class time + 4 hrs self directed learning assessment.
Recertification: 4 1/2 hrs class time + a self directed learning assessment.
*You must provide a copy of your previous certificate to ensure you are valid for this course - you need to have previously completed Unit Standards 6402, 6401 & 6400 & refreshed them every two years*
